Visiting Tunisian Foreign Min holds talks with PM Modi

Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, who is on a four-day visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday afternoon. The two leaders are said to have held ‘fruitful’ talks to deepen cooperation.

The visiting minister is in India to co-chair the 12th India-Tunisia Joint Commission Meeting along with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. The two foreign ministers are also expected to deepen bilateral ties and economic cooperation. A wide-range of issues including areas of common interest are likely to be discussed.

The economic cooperation between the two countries has been deepening with Indian investments in various sectors, including fertilizers, automobile, pharma and textiles.

The Joint Commission Meeting will also enable both countries to do a comprehensive review of bilateral ties. Both countries will also sign agreements and MoUs.
India has traditionally been a close and friend of Tunisia.

During his stay in India, the Tunisian minister will also address the business sessions to be organised by apex chambers of commerce and industry and deliver a keynote address at the Indian Council for World Affairs.
Jhinaoui is accompanied by a high-level business delegation representing diverse areas of business, trade and investments.
